Selective Pruning

Picture
The main reason for pruning ornamental and shade trees include, Safety, Health and Aesthetics.
  • Pruning for SAFETY involves removing branches that could fall and cause injury or property damage, trimming branches that interfere with lines of sight on streets or driveways and removing branches that grows into utility lines.
  • Pruning for HEALTH involves removing diseased or insect infested wood, thinning the crown to increase airflow, reduce some pest problems and removing crossing and rubbing branches. Pruning can best be used to encourage trees to develop a strong structure and reduce the likelihood of damage in severe weather.
  • Pruning for AESTHETICS involves enhancing the natural form and character of trees or stimulating flower production. Pruning for form can be especially important on open grown trees that do very little self-pruning.

                                            Hurricane Preparedness
High winds and heavy rains can wreak havoc causing branches to snap or trees to uproot.
  • The key to minimizing your risk against property damage is storm preparedness.
  • There is no such thing as a hurricane-resistant landscape but with proper care and timely maintenance overseen by professionals trees can be more resistant to storm damage.
  • Pruning is Vital to Hurricane Damage Prevention
  • A strong, deep-rooted tree may not fall during a storm, but weak limbs in the canopy may. Broken, dead and damaged limbs can be torn from trees during a storm and turned into dangerous projectiles.
  • Regular pruning done by a professional over the course of the tree's life can create a sturdy, well-spaced framework of healthy branches with an open canopy that allows wind to flow freely through.
Are you ready for the next storm?

Hazardous Tree Removal
Although tree removals are the last resort, there are circumstances when it is necessary.
                                                    Removal is recommended when:
  • Hazardous, or to allow for construction.
  • Crowding or causing harm to other trees.
  • Dead or dying

Emergency Tree Services
Storms may cause limbs or entire trees to fail, often landing on homes, cars, other structures, or other trees.

The weight of storm-damaged trees is great and they can be dangerous to remove or trim. A-1 Tree Services can perform hazardous tree removals, while reducing further risk to site.

Tree Installation & Transplanting
Available space is probably the consideration most overlooked or misunderstood when deciding what tree to plant.
Before you plant, it is important to know what the tree will look like as it nears maturity. Consider its height, crown spread, and root space.

Irrigation Services
There are two main types of irrigation systems: low flow and high flow.
Both can be utilized in one garden if needed.

Low flow systems refer to micro spray, drip emitters or drip lines.
High flow systems are fixed spray, rotor, impact, bubbler and soaker hose. Drip irrigation is preferable for most parts of the garden except lawns. Where appropriate, sprinklers can be used for lawns or low-growing ground covers. Keep in mind, the irrigation system must be designed to prevent runoff, low head drainage, over spray, or other similar conditions where irrigation flows onto non-targeted areas, such as adjacent property, non-irrigated areas, hardscapes, roadways, or structures.
